Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of RentGoshen (the "Platform"), operated by RentGoshen ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

1. Who can use RentGoshen

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a legally binding contract under the laws of Uganda to use the Platform. By registering, you confirm this is true.

2. Account roles

• Tenants search for properties, submit rental applications, view lease and payment records, and raise maintenance requests.
• Landlords/Owners list properties, review applications, record leases and payments, and manage maintenance for their own properties.
• Agencies and agents manage properties on behalf of landlords who have authorized them to do so, subject to the access those landlords grant.
• Service professionals receive and complete maintenance requests assigned to them through the Platform.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.

3. Accuracy of information

You agree to provide accurate, current information when registering, listing a property, submitting an application, or recording payments. Landlords and agencies are responsible for the accuracy of their listings, including price, availability, and photos. Providing false information may result in suspension or termination of your account.

4. Listings and applications

RentGoshen provides the Platform that connects tenants with landlords and agencies; we do not own, inspect, or guarantee any property listed. Tenants are responsible for verifying a property and its terms before applying or signing a lease. Submitting a rental application constitutes consent for the landlord or agency to review the information you provide for the purpose of tenant screening.

5. Leases

Any lease agreement entered into is a contract directly between the tenant and the landlord (or agency acting on the landlord's behalf). RentGoshen is not a party to that lease and is not responsible for a landlord's or tenant's performance of it, including disputes over rent, deposits, repairs, or termination.

6. Payments

RentGoshen is not a licensed payment processor. Rent, deposits, and fees are arranged and settled directly between tenants and landlords/agencies (for example by mobile money, bank transfer, cash, or cheque), and recorded on the Platform for reference. You are responsible for confirming payment was received through your own arrangement with the other party; RentGoshen is not responsible for payment disputes, chargebacks, or losses arising from payments made outside the Platform's records.

7. Fees

RentGoshen does not currently charge tenants, landlords, or agencies a subscription, listing, or platform fee to use the Platform. Where an agency manages a property on a landlord's behalf, any management fee is set out in the management agreement between the agency and the landlord, and is recorded on the Platform for transparency.

8. Maintenance requests

Maintenance requests submitted through the Platform are routed to the relevant landlord, agency, or assigned service professional. RentGoshen does not perform maintenance work itself and is not responsible for the quality or timeliness of work carried out by landlords, agencies, or service professionals.

9. Prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

• Provide false or misleading information in a listing, application, or profile;
• Use the Platform for any unlawful, fraudulent, or discriminatory purpose;
• Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorized to access; or
• Interfere with the operation or security of the Platform.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

10. Intellectual property

The Platform, including its design, code, and content (excluding user-submitted listings and content), is owned by RentGoshen and protected by applicable intellectual property law. You may not copy, reproduce, or reuse it without permission.

11. Third-party services

The Platform uses third-party services such as Google Maps for property location and mapping. Your use of these features is also subject to that provider's terms.

12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Platform is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by Ugandan law, RentGoshen disclaims liability for the accuracy of listings, the conduct of users, or disputes between tenants, landlords, agencies, and service professionals.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold RentGoshen harmless from any claim, loss, or liability (including reasonable legal costs) arising from your content or conduct on the Platform — including a listing, application, or communication you submit — your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or a third party's rights.

14. Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform if you breach these Terms or if required by law.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you by email or a notice on the Platform at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda, and any dispute arising from them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Uganda.
